History

[edit]

Panpacific University, formerly known as Pangasinan Colleges of Science and Technology (PCST), was incorporated on August 26, 1992. It was founded by Romeo T. Padilla and Corazon Padilla, who were educators and entrepreneurs. The vision of the university's founders was to make higher education accessible to college students in Eastern Pangasinan.[citation needed]

In 1993, PCST started its operations in a rented three-story building with ten rooms located along MacArthur Highway in Urdaneta, Pangasinan. From 1995 to 2000, the institution transferred to a new location. The first building was named the Science Building, now known as the School of Education building.[1]

In 2007, the institution was renamed Panpacific University in Northern Philippines.[2]

In June 2024, Panpacific University was ranked among the top 300 most innovative universities in the world based on the 2024 Worldโ€™s Universities with Real Impact (WURI) rankings.[3]

Panpacific University is one of the private higher education institutions granted autonomous and deregulated status by the Commission on Higher Education on September 26, 2024. This status allows the university to have greater freedom in designing its curriculum and establishing international partnerships.[4]

In November 2024, Panpacific University President Donna Padilla-Taguiba emphasized the continuous promotion of quality education through expanded and improved programs, especially in the international field.[5]
