Organized to Govern (Spanish: Organizada Para Gobernar, OPG) is a center-left political party in Venezuela that was founded in early 2000s. Its current general secretary is José Gregorio Hernández and its president is Dr. Evelio Quintero.

History

The party was founded in 2000 but formally registered in the National Electoral Council (CNE) in February 2003 by Evelio Quintero under the name New People Concentration Movement (Spanish: Movimiento de Concentración de Nuevas Personas, MCNP). MCNP sought to establish itself as a party that would differentiate itself from the pro-Chavez government parties led by the Fifth Republic Movement (MVR) and the opposition led by Coordinadora Democrática, a political coalition that existed until 2004.

In 2013 the party was revamped by Dr. Evelio Quintero, Juan Castro Diaz, José Gregorio Hernández, Monica Candell, Carlos Freitas and Arsenio Motta. It was decided to change the name of MCNP to Organized to Govern (OPG) but keep the colors, the logo and the words "New People".

On July 10, 2016, the coordinator of the OPG Richard Rivas announced the incorporation of the party into the ranks of the Democratic Unity Roundtable.

Electoral History

In their first electoral participation, OPG presented their own candidates for the 2004 regional elections, but they also gave their support to pro-government and opposition candidates. A year later, in the 2005 parliamentary elections, they ran their own candidates and supported both pro-government and opposition candidates again but only for those who were not part of the Fifth Republic Movement coalition and its allies such as Podemos and Fatherland for All (PPT). OPG supported independent pro-government parties such as Tupamaro, Independents for the National Community (IPCN) and Civil Militant Movement (MCM), among many others. In neither of these two elections they were able to obtain candidates. Later, OPG completely stopped participating future elections.
