O. S. Manian is a member of the 15th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from Vedaranyam constituency, Nagapattinam district. He is a staunch loyalist to AIADMK Supreme J Jayalalithaa. He previously represented the Mayiladuturai (Lok Sabha constituency) of Tamil Nadu and is a member of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam political party.[1]

J Jayalalithaa appointed O.S Manian as Minister for Handlooms and Textiles in May 2016. This was his first cabinet post in the Government of Tamil Nadu.[2]

He has been interested in politics and public interest since his youth. From the age of 18 he joined the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.

Later, he held many party responsibilities such as Union Secretary, Club Policy Propagation Secretary, District Club Secretary.

The period when he served as the party's Policy Propagation Secretary is still admired by the party leaders as the golden age of party leaders.

Education and background

Manian has completed formal education only till XII standard. An agriculturist by profession, he has held various offices since 1995. O.S. Manian belongs to Agamudayar and currently the district Secretary of Aiadmk Nagapatinam.
