In The News
[edit]In April 2024, the St. Landry Parish School board was named as a defendant in a Lawsuit filed by the football coach of Opelousas High School.[5] The lawsuit comes on the heals of an LHSAAdecision to revoke a football state championship title earlier in the year.
Superintendent
[edit]On May 4, 1878, the Board of Public School Directors of St. Landry Parish published the duties regulating the Parish Superintendent of Education, "an office lately instituted by our Parish Board." The position of Superintendent of Schools for St. Landry Parish was created in 1878.[6]
