The population of the region is 1,025,000 people (28.6% of the country's population). The urban population (357,000 people) represents approximately 34.8% of the total per region. At the same time, 571 localities are located here: 20 cities and 551 rural localities, out of the total of 1679 localities of the Republic of Moldova.
Economy
[edit]The gross domestic product (GDP) of the region was 37.080 billion leu in 2021, accounting for 15% of Moldova economic output. GDP per capita was around 37,000 leu.[2]
