Newport[3] is the name given to the ward and suburb[4] of Melton Mowbray in the county of Leicestershire, England. It is one of the six wards of the town on Melton Borough Council.[5]
Geography
[edit]The ward covers the northern part of Melton Mowbray and is split by Scalford Brook.[6] The A607 road runs to the east towards Grantham and Waltham-on-the-Wolds. The former line between Melton Mowbray North and Scalford passes through the northern part of the ward.[7] The area has a mix of rural landscapes and residential, and commercial properties.[8] It is also conjoined with the village of Thorpe Arnold to the east. The ward is also home to Melton Mowbray Hospital.[9]
