Nenibarini Zabbey is a Nigerian environmental scientist and Professor of Hydrobiology.[1][2] In 2024, he was appointed by President Bola Tinubu as the Project Coordinator of Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP),[3][4] the agency responsible for the implementation of UNEP Environmental Assessment report and cleanup of oil polluted sites [5] in Ogoniland and Niger Delta region of Nigeria.
He is the first African recipient of the Association of the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography 2022 Ruth Patrick Award for research[6] and was a senior lecturer at the Department of Fisheries Faculty of Agriculture, University of Port Harcourt.[7]
