The NCAA Division III women's swimming and diving championships are contested at an annual swim meet hosted by the National Collegiate Athletic Association to determine the individual and team champions of women's collegiate swimming and diving among its Division III members in the United States.
The event is held annually following the winter regular season, and it consists of individual and team championships. The meets take place in a 25-yard pool.[1] Since its establishment, the championships have been held at the same time and venue as the Division III men's championships.
Kenyon are the reigning national champions, winning their twenty-fifth title in 2024.
History
[edit]Swimming was one of twelve women's sports added to the NCAA championship program for the 1981-82 school year, as the NCAA engaged in battle with the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women for sole governance of women's collegiate sports. The AIAW continued to conduct its established championship program in the same twelve (and other) sports; however, after a year of dual women's championships, the NCAA conquered the AIAW and usurped its authority and membership.[2]
