Mukhtiar Ali Unar (born 1 September 1964) is a Pakistani academic, researcher, educationist, and writer. He held the esteemed position of editor of the Mehran University Research Journal of Engineering and Technology from 2008 to 2024. During the 1980s and 1990s, he also served as a host and writer at Radio Pakistan Hyderabad.
Biography
[edit]Mukhtiar Ali Unar, born on September 1, 1964, in Village Din Muhammad Unar, Taluka, and District Matiari, Sindh, Pakistan, is a highly accomplished individual. He completed his undergraduate studies in electronic engineering at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro. Subsequently, he pursued and obtained his Master's and PhD degrees in engineering from the University of Glasgow, Glasgow, Scotland, UK.[1]
In 1986, Mukhtiar Ali Unar commenced his career as a lecturer in the Department of Electronic Engineering at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro. He rose to the position of the Meritorious Professor in 2010 and retired in 2024. He served as the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical, Electronic, and Computer Engineering at the same university from 2018 to 2024 .[2] From 2008 to 2024, he also served as the Chief Editor of Mehran University Research Journal of Engineering and Technology.[3] He is the Program Evaluator of the National Computing Education Accreditation Council Islamabad[4] and the Pakistan Engineering Council.
With a prolific research career, Unar has authored over 60 research articles in the domains of artificial intelligence, data science, and control engineering. He has presented his research contributions at numerous conferences held in various countries, including Gibraltar, Malaysia, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.[5] He was a member of the National Plagiarism Standing Committee of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan from 2014 to 2018 and Director of the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies of Mehran University.[6][7] Furthermore, he has served as the Pro Vice Chancellor of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Campus, Khairpur Mirs.[8]
Literary contributions
[edit]In the 1980s and 1990s, he served as a host and writer at Radio Pakistan Hyderabad. Additionally, he has contributed to the literary world with over 100 articles, delving into the rich history and vibrant culture of Sindh. Furthermore, he dedicated over five years of his career to hosting a Sindhi science program on Radio Pakistan Hyderabad, enlightening listeners with scientific knowledge and insights.[1]
