Mohammad Abu Sheikh (born November 20, 2000) is a Jordanian politician and public activist. He was a member of the Jordanian House of Representatives, representing the constituency of Amman since 2019.

Biography

Mohammad Abu Sheikh was born on November 20, 2000, in Amman, Jordan. He grew up in a family with two brothers, Abdallah Abu Sheikh and Hasan Abu Sheikh. He pursued his higher education at the German Jordanian University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering.[1]

Political career

In 2019, Mohammad was elected to the Jordanian House of Representatives representing the constituency of Amman.[2] As a member of parliament, he has focused on advancing technology and innovation within Jordan. He has been involved in drafting legislation related to:

  • Technology and Innovation: Sponsored bills to promote the development of the tech industry in Jordan, including tax incentives for startups and investment in tech education.[3][4]
  • Artificial Intelligence Regulation: Advocated for responsible AI development and ethical guidelines, introducing the "AI Ethics and Governance Act" to ensure transparent and fair use of AI technologies.[5]
  • Education Reform: Worked on initiatives to integrate technology into the national education curriculum, emphasizing coding and digital literacy from an early age.[6]

Career

In January 2023, Mohammad founded CNTXT, a company focused on smart segmentation and data labeling technology. In June 2023, Mohammad founded LocAI, where he serves as CEO.[7] Based in the UAE, his company develops AI applications for the needs of businesses in the GCC region.[8][9] In June 2024, Mohammad founded SMPL AI, where he serves as a managing partner. SMPL AI focuses on supporting tech and AI startups in the MENA region.[10]
