Settings

[edit]

For anyone attempting to calibrate the longitude and latitude settings for the Greater Manchester map. I've managed to get fairly accurate results with the following settings:

  • top=53.67
  • bottom=53.32
  • left=-2.75
  • right=-1.89

They may need fine tuning from here-on for perfect results. If anyone can improve upon these settings, please post your findings in this section for the benefit of other, future users. Jhamez84 12:33, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New map image

[edit]

A new map has been uploaded within the last 24 hours. I'm stuggling working out the new boundary settings. If any can work them out, please post your findings below, as per above. Jhamez84 11:52, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Current settings which are fairly reasonable are as follows:
  • top=53.67
  • bottom=53.31
  • left=-2.79
  • right=-1.905
They could yet be improved and need verifying. Jhamez84 02:07, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have measured a couple of points, and I have set the boundaries to
  • top=53.6822
  • bottom=53.3171
  • left=-2.7908
  • right=-1.9033
I used the Manchester/Stockport/Tameside intersection (53.45454,-2.15739) and the Wigan/Bolton/Lancashire intersection (53.59326,-2.62330) as markers. I checked and these markers look OK to me. Mr Stephen 14:34, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent work! I wasn't far off (I used trial and error!), but these seem to produce good results yes. However, some settlements are showing a little southerly than they actually are. I think setting the town to 53.680 would solve this. Jhamez84 15:17, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
