Miss Charm 2024 will be the second edition of the Miss Charm pageant, to be held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on December 21, 2024. Luma Russo of Brazil will crown her successor at the end of the event.
Background
[edit]Location and date
[edit]On June 24, 2024, Miss Charm Organization announced that the competition would take place in Los Angles, California, United States between August 12-24, 2024.[1] However, on August 1, the event was postponed and expected for another time and place since many contestants had been facing difficulty in obtaining visa for the US.[2] It was disclosed later that a total of 11 contestants were deemed ineligible after their visa application interviews.[3] Subsequently, on October 14, the organization made an announcement that this year's competition would officially return to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam between December 9-21, 2024.[4]
Selection of participants
[edit]Due to the uncertainty of the event throughout the span of nearly two years, there were many changes surrounding countries' representation.[5][6]
Debuts and Withdrawals
[edit]This edition featured the debuts of Albania, Australia, Canada, Ecuador, El Salvador, France, Montenegro, Namibia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Romania, Senegal and United States. Hungary, Iran, Italy, Kazakhstan, Paraguay, Somalia and Spain were initially supposed to debut in this edition with then officially announced representatives.[7][8][9][10][11][12][13] However, after their representatives resigned from the titles and their respective organizations found no replacement, these countries eventually ceased to debut.
Bangladesh, Cambodia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Eritrea, Myanmar, Nicaragua, Portugal, Singapore, South Sudan, Ukrain and Wales withdrew from this year's competition after their respective organizations failed to appoint a delegate. Alina Luz Akselrad and Sofia Depassier were initially appointed as the representatives for Argentina and Chile, respectively.[14][15] However, after they relinquished their titles and the national license holders found no replacement, the two countries eventually withdrew.
