Michael Reade

Michael Reade (born Dublin, Ireland) was a nationally respected broadcaster and journalist with the LMFM news radio network broadcast throughout the Counties of Louth, Meath, parts of Ulster and other surrounding parts of Leinster. For 21 years he presented "The Mike Reade Show" on the LMFM Radio Network a discussion on current affairs running from Monday-Friday. In October 2024 he won the IMRO Gold Radio Award for best Current Affairs Broadcasting on Local Radio. He actually started work in the Radio Industry at the age of 15.[1]

He died on 21 October 2024 having received a terminal diagnosis of cancer. He is survived by his wife, Sandra and his son, Luke.

Among the tributes received on his death were those from Taoiseach Simon Harris TD, Tánaiste Mícheál Martin TD and other political, community, religious and civil leaders in Ireland and in the Louth-Meath area.[2]

He had publicly revealed his medical diagnosis on a radio broadcast in September 2024 which attracted much national attention for advocacy in advancing the cause of those with terminal illness.[3]

Regular topics on his radio show included local and national politics, health, crime, the economy, foreign policy among others.
