Life and career

[edit]

Meketaw Mamo was born in Termaber woreda in North Shewa, Ethiopia. He completed his secondary schooling in Shewa Robit before shifting to business career. There, he had worked in various business roles. During this time, it was reported that Meketaw has not involved in any political and armed struggle until the 2021 Ataye town attacks. In the Tigray War, he was aligned with the ENDF force as the Tigrayan force made incursion into Amhara Region.[1][2]

After the end of the war, Meketaw and his friends engaged in persistent armed resistance and insurgency in Shewa Robit and his friends left the town for neighboring areas. As the War in Amhara began in 2023, Meketaw began aligning to Fano force to fight the government force and established Shewa Province Command in the Shewa province.[1][3]
