Meet Your Congress was a public affairs TV series on NBC and on the DuMont Television Network.[1] The show premiered on NBC on July 1, 1949, airing Saturdays at 8pm ET. The DuMont series aired from July 8, 1953, until July 4, 1954.[citation needed]
Moderator Blair Moody (1902-1954), who hosted the radio and TV versions from 1946 to 1952, died of pneumonia and heart problems on July 20, 1954.
Episode status
[edit]As with most DuMont series, no episodes are known to exist.[citation needed]
Production
[edit]Moody produced the Dumont version of the program, and Vic Guidice was the director. The show originated in Washington on Wednesdays from 9:30 to 10 p.m. Eastern Time. It was sustaining.[2]
Critical response
[edit]A review of the July 8, 1953, episode in the trade publication Variety said that Meet Your Congress seemed to be "a promising package designed for the politically conscious citizenry."[2] It also commended Moody's objective approach as the moderator.[2]
