Re-add text
{{editprotected}}
I don't like the red error message that appears when there is no <references />
tag on a page, which seems to be the general consensus, but the text should be added back into this page, because the error "Cite error:" still appears. At least with the text, editors can tell what the actual error is. Another option would be to blank the text in MediaWiki:Cite error, although I'm not quite sure if that's linked to this? - Disabled for now. There's an ongoing discussion about all of this at WP:VP/T. Cheers. --MZMcBride (talk) 07:27, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

And reverted. This message uses {{tag}} which was broken. --—— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 14:28, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
Talk pages in category
Although the cite error message no longer appears on talk pages, they are still in the Category:Wikipedia pages with broken references. can we move the category into the namespace detection section? --—— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 21:41, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
- I am in agreement that having talkpages in this category is not particularly useful. There are plenty of valid reasons why editors may wish to copy "referenced" text to a talkpage, but not want a references section as well. --Elonka 20:12, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
- Looks like this has been done. With the current state of the job queue, it will take a while for the category to clear out. --—— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 22:33, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
