Mbaziira Tonny (born 3 March 1987) is a Ugandan DJ, producer and record executive from Masaka District. Mbaziira Tonny first gained recognition as a radio host in 2008 for radio Equator in Masaka and translated his popularity by working with his deejaying partner Ssuuna Ben with their local music style known as Endongo Yebinyaanya both on the radio and in live performances.[1]
Early life
[edit]Mbaziira Tonny was born to Ssenyonga David and Nakimbugwe Madrine of Bugabira village the current Masaka City on March 3, 1987, from Uganda. He studied and graduated with a bachelor's degree in mass communication from Kampala University. He had interest in being a famous media presenter and made his debut radio presentation at radio Equator in Masaka. Mbaziira Tonny is currently working as a radio presenter at CBS FM Buganda in Kampala.[2][3]
Radio presentation
[edit]In 2008, Mbaziira Tonny made his debut radio presentation at 93FM Radio Equator in Masaka.[4] Later in 2009, he joined 98.8 Radio Buddu FM where he worked as a radio presenter, producer and a Disc Jockey up to 2019. He joined 103.3 Radio 4 FM in Kampala in 2019.[5]
In June, 2019 he joined Central Broadcasting Services (CBS) 89.2 FM where he works as a radio presenter and a radio Disc Jockey. He hosts Uganda's most popular lunchtime show, "Township Tunes" with Sofia Tebi. He also hosts a gigantic late night drive show "Kross Faya Friday" every Friday. Additionally, he hosts another prominent show "Sunday Mega Drive" on Sundays on the same station.[6]
Career
[edit]In March 2022, Mbaziira Tonny together with Ssuuna Ben organized "Ebinyaanya Festival" at Masaka Recreation Grounds that pulled in a large crowd.[7] This was Mbaziira Tonny's first live concert organized as a DJ. In 2023, Mbaziira Tonny organized the TMT Live Experience in Kyengera which gave him more local and international attention as a music Disc Jockey who plays with local beats called "Endongo Y'ebinyaanya". He organized the latest concert of his career, titled "Endongo Yebinyaaya Weewaawo," at Kyengera Summit Ground.[8]
Personal life
[edit]Tonny lives a private personal life. He has a wife and children, and owns the production house known as Streamlive avenue.[9]
