The Mausoleum of Shah Rokneddin (Farsi: بقعه شاه رکن الدین) is a historical mausoleum in the Shah Rokn-ed-din district of Dezful, Iran. It was built during the Timurid period, and it is number 8386 on Iran's list of national monuments.[1][2] The mausoleum entombs the remains of a son of Baba Rokneddin Wali.[3]
History
[edit]The mausoleum and its conical dome were built in the 15th century during the rule of Timurid ruler, Shah Rukh.[4] During the Qajar period, two minarets were added to the structure.[5] Every Muharram, a large festival is held at the mausoleum.
Architectural features
[edit]Tomb
[edit]The tomb of Shah Rokneddin is the central part of the complex. It is topped by a blue conical dome with fourteen sides.[3][2] It is attached to a small mosque, which is usually closed.[3][2][1]
Bathhouse
[edit]A bathhouse attached to the mausoleum. It on its own is also a national monument, numbered 8379. It was built in the Timurid period as well.[1][3][2]
