Masami Tanabu (田名部 匡省, Tanabu Masami, born December 7, 1934 in Hachinohe, Aomori) is a Japanese politician of the Democratic Party of Japan, a member of the House of Councillors in the Diet (national legislature). A native of Hachinohe, Aomori and graduate of Rikkyo University, he was elected to the House of Councillors for the first time in 2004 after serving in the Aomori Prefectural Assembly for two terms and then in the House of Representatives for six terms.
He was former head coach of Japan national ice hockey team. He also competed at the 1960 Winter Olympics and the 1964 Winter Olympics.[1]
