Masahiro Higashide (東出 昌大, Higashide Masahiro, born February 1, 1988 in Saitama Prefecture, Japan) is a Japanese actor and model. In 2012, he debuted as an actor in The Kirishima Thing.

Early life

Higashide graduated from Saitama Prefectural Asaka High School. He practiced kendo daily when he was young because his father is a kendo teacher. His father is also a cook of Japanese cuisine.

Career

He debuted as a model in the 19th Men's Non-no Exclusive Model Audition in high school. After graduating from high school, he aimed to become a jewelry designer and proceeded to attend a jewelry school.[2] He was active as a model for ZUCCa or Yohji Yamamoto from 2006 to 2011.

He debuted in The Kirishima Thing in 2012 and has been an actor since then.

He has acted on the NHK TV program “Rakugo Deeper!"

Personal life

Higashide married fellow actor Anne Watanabe on January 1, 2015.[3] The couple share three children; twin daughters born in May 2016[4] and a son born in November 2017.[5][6]

In January 2020, Shūkan Bunshun revealed that Higashide had been having an extramarital affair with actress Erika Karata since 2017, when Watanabe was pregnant with their third child.[7] The report was later confirmed by his agency.[8] The incident caused Higashide to lose several endorsement deals.[9] On August 1, 2020, Watanabe finalized her divorce with Higashide, promising that they will work together to take care of the children.[10]

On August 27, 2024, Higashide announced his engagement on his official YouTube channel to a non-celebrity woman upon learning of her pregnancy. The two had reportedly begun a relationship in mid-2024.[11] He also revealed that she is a former actress and that the two had met before on set prior to her retirement from the entertainment industry. Their child is due around January next year.[12]
