Marilyn M. White

Marilyn M. White is an American folklorist who researches African American folklore and family folklore.[1] She conducts research in Little Cayman.[1] White is the president of the American Folklore Society[2] and the long-time president of the Association of African and African American Folklorists.[2] White is also ex officio member of the board of trustees of the American Folklife Center.[1]
White completed a B.A. in English from Hampton University,[2] an M.A. in folklore from Indiana University,[2] and a PhD in anthropology (folklore) from the University of Texas at Austin.[2]
She was a professor of anthropology at Kean University from 1985 to 2011.[2] She also previously taught at Western Kentucky University for eight years.[2]
