London Film Academy (LFA) is a private film school located in Fulham, London. It was founded in 2001 to provide practical, industry-focused training across all key filmmaking disciplines. Known for its collaborative, hands-on approach, the LFA offers a range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and short courses that prepare students for the fast-paced world of film and television.[1][2][3]

History

[edit]

The LFA is housed in a converted Methodist Church on Walham Grove. Founded by Anna MacDonald and Daisy Gili, the Academy was established to provide a practical education focused on celluloid filmmaking. The founders have remained joint principals for over two decades, shaping LFA into one of the leading film schools in the UK.[1][3][2]

In 2006, the LFA formed a partnership with Club Panico, a group created in the mid-1980s with prominent patrons such as Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones and Sir Ben Kingsley. This partnership further solidified the LFA’s standing in the industry, offering students invaluable networking opportunities.

The LFA hosts its annual graduation showcase at the prestigious BFI Southbank, providing graduates with an opportunity to present their work to industry professionals.[3]

Accreditation

[edit]

LFA is a registered higher education provider with the Office for Students (OfS) and listed on their Register, meaning that they meet the OfS requirements for academic standards, course quality, student support, and student protection. Their undergraduate and postgraduate courses are validated by the University of Derby, who were awarded GOLD status for Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) in 2023, making its fourth consecutive year.[4]
