List of storms named Karing
Appearance
The name Karing has been used to name eight tropical cyclones in the Philippine Area of Responsibility by the PAGASA and its predecessor, the Philippine Weather Bureau.
- Typhoon Shirley (1963) (T6304, 07W, Karing) – a Category 5-equivalent super typhoon that made landfall on the Korean Peninsula as a Category 1 typhoon.
- Typhoon Violet (1967) (T6704, 04W, Karing) – made landfall on Luzon.
- Typhoon Vera (1971) (T7103, 03W, Karing) – curved away from the Philippines.
- Tropical Depression 05W (1975) (05W, Karing) – dissipated off the coast of China.
- Tropical Storm Dot (1979) (T7904, 04W, Karing) – crossed the Philippines twice.
- Typhoon Walt (1991) (T9104, 04W, Karing) – a Category 5 super typhoon that curved away from the Philippines.
- Tropical Storm Helen (1995) (T9505, 08W, Karing) – made landfall in southern China, causing 23 fatalities.
- Tropical Depression Jacob (1999) (03W, Karing) – was rated a tropical storm by the JTWC.
After the 2000 Pacific typhoon season, the PAGASA revised their naming lists and the name Karing was excluded.
