In the attempt to recover the fishing gear, the port trawl door struck the hull causing the aft compartment to flood. Despite efforts from the crew to pump the water out using their own portable pumps, a pump from Gerda Sæle the Lerwick Lifeboat, the ship foundered. All five crew were rescued onto the lifeboat at the scene.[41] |
