Alpha Omicron Pi is an international collegiate women's fraternity.[1] It was established at Barnard College of Columbia University in 1897.[1]

  7. ^ The fraternity withdrew the chapter's charter from 1969 to 1989 after its members did not participate in rush to protest the discriminatory rules of the Tufts Panhellenic Council. After being restored, the chapter gave a bid to a transgender student in the fall of 2016. The national fraternity delayed its approval of the bid, resulting in half of the chapter's members leaving in October 2016. Although policies were changed to be inclusive, the national executive board withdrew the chapter's charter on December 11, 2017, citing the chapter's "inability to build their membership to sustain a viable AOII membership experience."

However, a group continued to operate under the same name, which may have been/be a violation of the trademark. The police arrested seven members of this (former, now clandestine?) chapter after noise complaints led to allegations of hazing in November 2016. The university noted that the sorority was off campus, and was not recognized by the school.
