Liam Vickers is an American storyboard artist, animator, writer, director, composer, and voice actor best known as the creator and showrunner of the animated web series Murder Drones. He is also the creator of CliffSide and Internecion Cube, as well as the short film Creepy Tales Time with Liam. He has also worked as a production assistant at Nickelodeon and Netflix,[3] and a storyboard artist/revisionist at ShadowMachine and Titmouse.

History

[edit]

Liam Vickers graduated from the University of Southern California in 2018 with a degree in Animation and Digital Art. He got the profession of a storyboard artist. Liam has interned at Netflix Animations, Sony Pictures Animation, Warner Bros Animation and DreamWorks Animation. He worked as a storyboard artist at Shadow Machine Studio (known for the TV series Final Space) and as a storyboard supervisor at Titmouse Studio. He spent about 6-7 years writing creepypastas and music on his first YouTube channel named Scary Story Time With Liam.[4] On July 25, 2020 Liam made an announcement telling that he was going to stop using his creepypasta channel, after which he created a second channel named Liam Vickers Animation[5] where he uploaded his animations. Shortly after he officially graduated as an animation artist he created his first animation project named Let's Split Up,[6] it was uploaded in February 10, 2018 on his channel and quickly gained popularity. That motivated him to create more animations listed below.

Animated series

[edit]

CliffSide (2018)

[edit]

The next project of Liam was named Cliffside.[7] Cliffside is Liam's thesis and the pilot episode of a cartoon about a town in a valley where all sorts of monsters live. A self-confident teenager, his apathetic partner and a spider-girl saves Cliffside from a rather unconventional evil. Despite the style and positive reviews, the cartoon was discontinued due to the lack of sponsors, but it was still remembered by many of his audience due to its style and unique characters.

Internecion Cube (2020)

[edit]

After the success of Cliffside, Liam made several animatics named "Internecion Cube".[8] Unlike Liam's first cartoon, Internecion Cube is more of an animatic (it is not fully colored and animated). The story of the animatic is about a guy who stole a cube for his girlfriend, which is an AI capable of destroying the whole world. He tries to protect it from secret agents sent by the goverment to recover it. The Internecion Cube is very short and has about 30 minutes of sketch animation, so it is not possible to build a complete picture of the world.

Internecion Cube quickly attracted the attention of fans, and its popularity grew thanks to the support of communities on YouTube and other online platforms. However, as with his previous project, Liam Vickers had to face production difficulties due to lack of funds from sponsors. Despite this, he continued to work on the project, releasing small episodes and teasers, thereby fueling the interest of the audience.

Murder Drones (2021)

[edit]

After a year of preparations, the pilot episode of Murder Drones was released on GLITCH YouTube channel on October 29, 2021,[9] where Liam Vickers acted as a screenwriter and character designer. He came up with the style and characters in 2D, after which the Glitch Productions team translated them into 3D. Despite the fact that the team of Glitch Productions used to be small, and the graphics compared to subsequent episodes could not boast of photorealism, nevertheless it gained huge popularity due to Liam's memorable style and his desire to experiment with genres and themes, starting with light comedy and ending with dark thrillers.

Like previous projects, including Murder Drones, they continue to inspire not only fans and new viewers, despite the obstacles that arise in the way of their completion, but thanks to them Liam also acquires respect among his colleagues in the workshop. A memorable style and a desire to experiment, creating something unique without following the set standards, portend a promising future for Liam and guarantees that he will be able to continue to gather a big community of fans and inspire more than one generation of future animators.
