Lepicolea is a genus of liverworts belonging to the family Lepicoleaceae.[2][3]

The genus was first described by Barthélemy Charles Joseph Dumortier.[3]

The genus has cosmopolitan distribution, but mostly in the southern hemisphere.[3] Such as species Lepicolea ochroleuca (Spreng.) Spruce is found in Chile,[4][5] and Brazil, Lepicolea prudent (Taylor) Spruce is found in Colombia and Lepicolea ramenifissa Herzog is found in Venezuela and Bolivia.[6]

Lepicolea ochroleuca also belongs to the Gondwanaland flora with occurrences in South Africa, New Zealand and especially South America, reaching up to Mexico. It was also found to contains a natural compound called Ligan,[5] and also Sesquiterpenoids and diterpenoids.[4]
