Leef Township is located in Madison County, Illinois, in the United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 628 and it contained 246 housing units.[2]

History

Leef Township was named for the Swiss immigrant Jacob Leu, who anglicized his name to Leef.[3]

According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of 29.38 square miles (76.1 km2), of which 29.26 square miles (75.8 km2) (or 99.59%) is land and 0.11 square miles (0.28 km2) (or 0.37%) is water.[2]
