La Pura Vida is a 2024 film made in Tijuana and Valle de Guadalupe in Baja California, Mexico, directed by Dylan Verrechia and starring Naomy Romo, Filiberto González, Angélica González and Oscar Reyes, and cameos from Hebert Axel, Aydée González and Pepe Mogt de Nortec, with music by Karl Pettersen.[1] The feature drama has been screened at over 100 film festivals, won 53 awards and received 28 nominations[2] including Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature at Festival de Cine del Valle de Guadalupe,.[3]Best Feature Drama at Author Film Festival,[4] Best Mexican Feature at Rosarito Film Festival,[5] Honorable Mention for Best International Narrative Feature at the Williamsburg International Film Festival,[6] Best Self-Funded Film at Cine Pobre Film Festival, Best Feature Film at Paris Art & Movie Awards,[7] and Best Film About Women at New York International Women Festival,[8] and officially selected at El Ojo Cojo Film Festival,[9] at Harlem International Film Festival,[10] and at Mix Mexico Film Festival.[11][12][13]

Synopsis

Nana and Fili live in Tijuana, Mexico, and try to make ends meet but struggle with money. Fili's parents, Oscar and Angie, are on their way from their home in Valle de Guadalupe (the wine country in Baja California) to their second home in Cozumel. They stop uninvited to Nana's house. The parents slowly invade her space, making it theirs, and in the course of it destroy her fragile couple with her husband-to-be.[14]
