Klub Kosova Hamburg is a German football club based in Hamburg, Germany. The club was founded in 1976 and currently plays in the Verbandsliga Hamburg,[2] the sixth tier of German football.
History
[edit]Klub Kosova Hamburg was founded in 1993[3] by a group of Kosovar immigrants living in Hamburg. The club was established to provide a community-based football team for the Kosovar diaspora in the city.
The club has been competing in Hamburg football since 1993,[4] when Klub Kosova started in the Kreisklasse, Hamburg's lowest league. They were promoted to the Kreisliga in their first year, but after the club withdrew in 1996, they had to play in the Kreisklasse again in 1997/98. Klub Kosova was again promoted directly to the Kreisliga, where it remained for 12 years until 2010. In 2010 they were finally promoted to the Hamburg Bezirksliga for the first time, and three years later they were promoted to the Landesliga as champions of the southern division. In their first two years in the Landesliga, Kosova fought against relegation, but narrowly avoided relegation on each occasion. In their third year, the 2015/16 season, Klub Kosova then achieved a surprise promotion to the Oberliga Hamburg, even though the club had only announced ninth place as their goal at the start of the season. Klub Kosova is thus the first Albanian-dominated club in Germany to be promoted to the highest league in its regional association. However, they were relegated again one season.
In 2022, Klub Kosova Hamburg finished 1st in the Landesliga Hamburg, the seventh tier of German football.
Stadium
