Khanates' invasion of Talysh or Allied invasion of Talysh — Attack of Baku, Shirvan, Salyan and Ardabil khanates, including the Bedeli tribe, on Talysh in alliance.
Before
[edit]After some victorious battles against the Russians, Fath Ali Shah became proud. According to him, all Azerbaijan should be subject to his rule no matter what. Instead of stopping the wars with the Russians and giving his soldiers time to rest, he wanted to open more fronts. Fath Ali Shah sent an edict to the khanates and Talysh khanate was in danger of occupation in the midst of these wars. Nevertheless, all khanates stood at the forefront to stab Talysh khanate in the back. These forces advanced towards Talysh khanate in 1809. Because Talysh khanate did not agree to liberate Baku from Russian occupation.[1]
Battle
[edit]Allied forces crossed the border of Talysh Khanate and entered Talysh. Hearing the news, Mir Hasan Khan came to the region. Mir Hasan Khan defeated the allies with an army of only 1,000 men. In addition, only 1 person was killed and 1 was wounded.[2][3] A battle with the khan of Shirvan took place in 1809 and Omar Sultan from Shamakh was killed by Mir Hasan bey.[4]
Aftermath
[edit]On the one hand, the Qajars entered Talysh and besieged Gamishavan. Because after the attacks the Khan of Talysh moved to Gamishava. At this time, Mir Mustafa Khan, who was on good terms with the Shirvan khan, asked him for military assistance. The siege lasted 4 years and in 1813 the Russian-Talysh alliance was finally realised and the Russians liberated Lankaran from the Qajar occupation. However, the Russians were planning to control Talysh khanate with these moves.[5][6]
