The Journal of Contemporary African Studies is a research journal on human science study of Africa.

The journal was originally published biannually, later changing to quarterly.[1][2] It is interdisciplinary in nature, with a focus on human sciences.[3]

It is hosted in Rhodes University, South Africa.[3] The chief editor is Nthabiseng Motsemme and the deputy editor in chief is Bhaso Ndzendze.[1]
