Choi Yun-jin (Korean: 최윤진; born April 16, 2004),[1] known professionally as Jini (stylized in all caps; Korean: 지니) and formerly romanized as Jinni, is a South Korean singer and actress. She debuted as a member of the South Korean girl group Nmixx in February 2022. Following her departure from the ensemble and JYP Entertainment on December 9, 2022, she joined ATOC as a solo artist.[2]
Early life
[edit]Jini was born on April 16, 2004, as Choi Yun-jin, in Busan, South Korea.[2]
Career
[edit]Pre-debut
[edit]Jini joined JYP Entertainment as a trainee in 2016.[3] In 2019, she appeared in 2PM's Nichkhun's music video for his solo debut song "Lucky Charm".[3] On August 6, 2021, Jini, along with Jiwoo and Kyujin, were revealed as the first three members of Nmixx (then known as "JYPn"), through a dance performance video.[4]
2022: Debut with Nmixx and departure from the group
[edit]Jini officially debuted with the group on February 22, 2022, with their debut single album Ad Mare alongside the lead single "O.O".[5] On December 9, JYP Entertainment announced that she would be departing from Nmixx for personal reasons and her contract with the agency has been terminated.[2][6]
2023–present: Solo activities, joining ATOC and solo debut
[edit]On April 14, 2023, it was reported by news media that Jini had signed an exclusive contract with ATOC (formerly called UAP),[7][8] and that they had signed a management MOU collaboration with Sublime to manage her acting activities, which was later confirmed by Sublime.[9] On September 14, ATOC announced she would be making her solo debut with An Iron Hand in a Velvet Glove on October 11.[10][11] On November 13, 2024, it was announced that Kim would be making her acting debut in the youth romance and crime film Boy (lit.) which is scheduled to be released in the first half of 2025.[12]
Endorsement
