Jharkhand State Electricity Board

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) (previously Jharkhand State Electricity Board) is a Government of Jharkhand enterprise, entrusted with the generation and distribution of electrical power in the state of Jharkhand, India. It suffers a loss of more than 1,000 crore (US$200mn) every year.[1]

In 2011, it was revealed that in the last ten years, as much as 80 crores in outstanding dues to various units had been waived.[1] For example, ex-Chief Minister Madhu Koda, in prison for graft since 2008, waived of a 10 crore bill from a company owned by fellow minister Vinod Sinha, who is also in jail on graft charges.

Power Plants

[edit]
  • Patratu Thermal Power Station. It has an installed capacity of 840 MW. The generating units of the power plant are very old and is operating at around 10% PLF.[2] The power plant is undergoing renovation.[3]In Daltonganj (Palamu), the responsibility for electricity distribution and management typically falls under the jurisdiction of Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL), the state electricity board. However, political leaders like the Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) and the Member of Parliament (MP) of the area can influence local infrastructure and services, including electricity.

MLA of Daltonganj (Palamu): The current MLA is Alok Chourasia from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

MP of Palamu Constituency: The current MP is Vishnu Dayal Ram from the BJP.

These leaders, along with the local district administration, play a role in addressing issues like electricity supply. They work with the state government and relevant departments to ensure better services for their constituencies.

  • Subernrekha Hydel Power Station, Sikidiri, a 130 MW (2x65 MW) hydel power plant.[4]
