James Cage White (born Cheng Xi (程曦), October 15, 1984) is a Chinese independent game developer and social media user most known for his Vine account, which gained over 470 thousand followers before the platform shut down in 2017.[1] White frequently posts about his desire to marry a white woman and is known for his catchphrase "Very cool, very swag".[1][2]

Early life

White was born under the name Cheng Xi in Chongqing on October 15, 1984, but uses the English name, James Cage White, James being inspired by James Bond, Cage being inspired by Nicolas Cage, White being inspired by white women, James would use this name for himself and his online persona starting in 2014.[1][3] He graduated from Sichuan International Studies University and worked at a financial company.[4]

Vine and Internet activities

James White first gained attention in 2014 through his Vine account, where he posted about his desire to marry a white woman.[5] In addition, he would use his Vines to show his viewers various parts of China. Within several months of posting on the platform, he had gained 40,000 followers.[5]

In December 2019, James would appear on a Chinese TV dating show titled "Moral Delights", although he was unable to find a girlfriend.[4]

On February 14, 2021, White released a visual novel entitled James White Simulator, in which he was the main character.[6][7] As of 2024, White is active on Twitter and YouTube, he also operates a blog titled "Very Cool, very swag".[8]
