Independence Township is located in Saline County, Illinois. As of the 2010 census, its population was 1,118 and it contained 478 housing units.[2]

[edit]According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of 37.37 square miles (96.8 km2), of which 36.87 square miles (95.5 km2) (or 98.66%) is land and 0.5 square miles (1.3 km2) (or 1.34%) is water.[2]
