Idly Kadai (transl.Idli Shop) is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language drama film written, directed and co-produced by Dhanush under Wunderbar Films, together with the newly-created production house Dawn Pictures. The film stars Dhanush, Nithya Menen and Shalini Pandey.

The film was officially announced in September 2024 under the tentative titles D52 and DD4, as it is Dhanush's 52nd and fourth film as a lead actor and director respectively, and the official title was announced a few days later. Principal photography began the same month. The film has music composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, cinematography handled by Kiran Koushik and editing by Prasanna GK.

Idly Kadai is scheduled to be released in theatres worldwide on 10 April 2025.

On 17 September 2024, the then newly established production house Dawn Pictures, headed by Aakash Baskaran, officially announced through their social media pages that their maiden production project.[3] Tentatively titled D52 and DD4, it would be directed and starred by Dhanush, in his fourth directorial venture.[4][5] Dhanush would also co-produce the project under Wunderbar Films. The film's official title, Idly Kadai, was announced on 19 September 2024.[6] The technical crew includes composer G. V. Prakash Kumar, editor Prasanna GK, cinematographer Kiran Koushik, production designer Jacki, costume designer Kavya Sriram and choreographer Baba Bhaskar.[7][8]

Filming

Principal photography commenced with the first schedule on 16 September 2024 at the villages of Theni district in Tamil Nadu.[9]

Music

The music and background score is composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, in his ninth collaboration with Dhanush.[6]
