Hydroginella gemella is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Marginellidae, the margin snails.[2]

Description

[edit]

The shell of Hydroginella gemella is relatively small, with a length that can reach up to 4.7 mm.[3] The shell is characterized by its elongated, ovate shape and intricate patterns. The coloration of the shell typically features a combination of light and dark hues, which provide camouflage against the seabed. The surface of the shell is adorned with fine spiral ridges and grooves, adding to its intricate appearance. The aperture is narrow, and the outer lip is thin and slightly flared.

Distribution

[edit]

Hydroginella gemella is found in the marine waters off New Caledonia. This region is known for its rich marine biodiversity and complex oceanographic conditions. The species inhabits shallow to moderately deep waters, typically at depths ranging from 10 to 50 meters. The warm, nutrient-rich waters of this region provide an ideal habitat for Hydroginella gemella, supporting its growth and reproduction.
