Himmafushi is one of the Most Beautiful and most popular local islands in Maldives. A typical Tourist and Fishing island famous around the globe. Over recent years, Himmafushi has been able to garner enough eyeballs for its excellent Hotels, Beaches, Surf points, Diving Centers and Water Sports.

Being closest to the capital has also led to good industrial growth across the island. One can find dhoni (boat) building yards as well as fish processing units hugging Himmafushi’s coast. The island has one colourful street filled with a few souvenir shops selling various handmade crafts from around the Maldives. There are also general many stores that provide essential items like sunscreen, snacks, water, and other necessities.

Some of the Hotels in Himmafushi do offer money exchange facilities. Moreover, the island have banking facility ATM, also most establishments on Himmafushi accept credit cards.

Himmafushi (Dhivehi: ހިއްމަފުށި) is one of the inhabited islands of Kaafu Atoll in the Maldives.

Geography

The island is 16.32 km (10 mi; 9 nmi) northeast of the country's capital, Malé.[2] It is located in North Malé Atoll. Himmafushi is about 18 km (11 mi) from Male Airport and it is the closest local island to Male International Airport.

Economy

The island have more than 20 Tourist Hotels, Tuna fish processing companys and a boat building facility to ease the demands of its own people.

Himmafushi has about 1200 locals but the population can rise to over 2500 as Himmafushi consists of many Tourist Hotels, a water bottling facility and a Tuna factory.

Himmafushi is the closest local island from Male international Airport.(15 minutes Speed Boat). Himmafushi has been able to garner enough eyeballs for its excellent Hotels, white sand Beaches, Surf points, Diving Centers and Water Sports.

Transport

To reach the hotels on Himmafushi Island, Airport Shuttle, public ferryboat from Male (Jetty no 1) or chartered speedboat can be arranged.

Speed Boat

The Speed Boats takes 15 to 20 minutes to reach Himmafushi Island. The boat departs from Airport (in front of Smoking Jetty) at 7:25hrs, 10:25hrs, 19:10hrs and the boat from Male' (Jetty no 1) departs at 7:15hrs, 10:15hrs, 11:30hrs, 12:00hrs, 16:00hrs, 19:00hrs and 22:00hrs. Return journey departs from Himmafushi Island at 6:30hrs, 8:00hrs, 9:15hrs, 13:15hrs, 13:30hrs, 16:30hrs and 18:00hrs.
