György Barkó

György Barkó (18 July 1931 – 30 January 2024) was a Romanian and Hungarian actor.

Biography

Barkó was born in Purcăreni, Brașov County on 18 July 1931.[1] In 1950 he graduated from the Saint George Székely Mikó Reformed College, the same year he successfully auditioned for the Cluj István Szentgyörgyi Theatre Institute. From 1954, he was a member of the Cluj-Napoca State Hungarian Theatre until 1989, when he settled in Hungary.

His wife was Julia Bereczky, actress and director (1928–2007).[2] Barkó died in Pécs on 30 January 2024, at the age of 92.[3]
