Galanopoulos was born on December 10, 1963, in Greece. He spent his early years in Athens and later moved to the United Kingdom at 20 to study computer science.[4][5] In 1985, he started training as a pilot and received his commercial pilot license in 1990[6]

Career

[edit]

Galanopoulos began his career as a pilot and became a flying instructor and civil aviation authority examiner in 1990.[4] Later in 1992, he joined SFC Air Taxis as chief pilot, and his first assignment was the London Look Out Flying Eye for LBC Radio as a traffic flying reporter.[5]

In June 1995, he founded London Executive Aviation with his partner Patrick Margetson Rushmore.[7][8] The company provided services to several government departments and has been the operator to the UK Royal Family since then.[9][10] Later in 2014, he sold the majority shares of his aviation company to Luxaviation Group and became the managing director of Luxaviation UK.[8] Galanopoulos also started serving as CEO of Luxaviation after Patrick’s retirement in 2020.[11][12]

As of 2024, Galanopoulos is Fellow of the Guild of Air Pilots and Navigators and on the board of the British Business and General Aviation Association (BBGA), petitioning the government on various aviation business matters, and is a spokesperson for the aviation industry at conferences.[5][3] Galanopoulos became a Liverman of The Honorable Company of Air Pilots in 2002 and was awarded the Freedom of the City of London in 2006.
