Gaganachari (transl. Celestial traveller) is a 2024 Indian Malayalam-language science fiction mockumentary film directed by Arun Chandu, who wrote the screenplay with Siva Sai.[1] It is set in 2050s Kerala where three bachelors meet a mysterious alien. The film stars K. B. Ganesh Kumar, Gokul Suresh, Aju Varghese and Anarkali Marikar.[2]
The film had a theatrical release in limited screens on 21 June 2024. [3]

In a dystopian version of Kerala in 2050, an apartment inhabited by three bachelors becomes a refuge for an extraterrestrial female fugitive.

Release
[edit]The film was premiered on 28 January at the Kochi Panambilly Nagar Rotary Club.[5][6] The film was released worldwide on 21 June 2024.[7][8][9]

Reception

[edit]The film opened with a collection of ₹4 lakhs on opening day and ₹12 lakhs on second day[15] and as of 27 June 2024, film collected ₹92 lakhs worldwide.[16][17] As of 3 July 2024, film collected ₹1.53 crore[18] and as of 10 July 2024 the film collected worldwide gross of ₹2.2 crore.[19][20]
Critical response
[edit]The Hindu gave positive review calling it a fun-filled science fiction film.[21]
Future
[edit]Director Arun Chandu and the team behind Gaganachari are planning to expand the Gaganachari universe with their next feature, starring actor Suresh Gopi in the lead role within the same storyline.[22]
