Gabriela Fernanda Bórquez Vargas (born 27 December 1998) is a Chilean footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Universidad de Chile and the Chile women's national team.
Club career
[edit]Born in Castro, Chiloé,[1][2] Bórquez spent seven seasons with Santiago Morning until 2022, winning three league titles and taking part in four editions of Copa Libertadores.[3][4]
In 2023, she switched to Universidad de Chile on a two-year deal.[5] The next season, she extended her contract until 2025 and was loaned out to Colombian Football League side Millonarios on a one-year deal.[6] She came to the Colombian club alongside her compatriot Lesly Olivares.[7] In the second half of 2024, she returned to Universidad de Chile.[8]
International career
[edit]From 2017 to 2018, Bórquez was a member of Chile U20 and represented them in the 2018 South American Championship.[1][9]
At senior level, she trained with the Chile national team in 2017.[1] Since then, she has been a permanent member of the squad.[10][2]
Personal life
[edit]She is nicknamed La Araña (The Spider).[5]
She also has played basketball in his hometown for teams like Escolar Castro in the 2017 Copa Castro.[1]
