Gülveren (Kurdish: Behwar; Syriac: Baḥwar)[2][nb 1] is a neighbourhood in the municipality and district of Midyat, Mardin Province in Turkey.[4] The village is populated by Kurds of the Dermemikan tribe and had a population of 668 in 2021.[1][5]

History

Baḥwar (today called Gülveren) was historically inhabited by Syriac Orthodox Assyrians.[3] In 1914, there were 100 Assyrians in the village, according to the list presented to the Paris Peace Conference by the Assyro-Chaldean delegation.[6]
