The Firebird Sub-One is a German single-place, paraglider that was designed and produced by Firebird Sky Sports AG of Füssen in the mid-2000s. It is now out of production.[1][2]
Design and development
[edit]The Sub-One was designed as a beginner glider and intended for the school market for use in flight training. The models are each named for their relative size.[1][2]
Variants

- Small-sized model for lighter pilots. Its 11.15 m (36.6 ft) span wing has a wing area of 25.48 m2 (274.3 sq ft), 35 cells and the aspect ratio is 4.88:1. The pilot weight range is 60 to 85 kg (132 to 187 lb). The glider model is DHV 1 certified.[1]
- Sub-One M
- Mid-sized model for medium-weight pilots. Its wing has an area of 28.09 m2 (302.4 sq ft), 35 cells and the aspect ratio is 4.88:1. The pilot weight range is 80 to 105 kg (176 to 231 lb). The glider model is DHV 1 certified.[1]
- Sub-One L
- Large-sized model for heavier pilots. Its wing has an area of 30.83 m2 (331.9 sq ft), 35 cells and the aspect ratio is 4.88:1. The pilot weight range is 100 to 130 kg (220 to 287 lb). The glider model is DHV 1 certified.[1]
