Borders east of the Euphrates

[edit]

Dear Editor abcdef, I really think that this is the best map to illustrate the Rojava article. However concerning details, while I very much agree with borders of both claimed and controlled to the west of the Euphrates, in the east of the river the line of control must in my humble opinion be corrected, as in most of that the area of control is even slightly beyond what is claimed on the "official" maps of Rojava. -- 2A1ZA (talk) 17:46, 23 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Geographical claims of region in the Western tip

[edit]

Dear Editor abcdef, while I very much appreciate that you so diligently updated the de facto control borders, is there a reason that you on the other hand took back the "claimed" part in deviation from the "official map" with respect to the westernmost tip? -- 2A1ZA (talk) 08:06, 1 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary occupation of non-claimed territories

[edit]

Should there also be a colour for temporary occupation of non-claimed territories? Areas which they don't claim semi-sovereignty over, but occupy and govern for the time being until central government is restored? The NSR has indicated it does not seek to annex and govern Arab-majority areas such as Raqqa. Nederlandse Leeuw (talk) 23:54, 14 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Well, due to the YPG campaign in Raqqa, it's pretty ridiculous to see this map portraying only FSA/Yihadist (Euphrates shield) & SAA (Qamishli & Hasakah) territories in Aleppo governorate in orange as "claimed territory", when ISIS-held territory nearby green territory (YPG-held) aint painted in orange. This map doesnt portrait reality, so it should be ammended (I would suggest remove the orange colour) or removed as innexact.--HCPUNXKID 19:55, 5 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Map name

[edit]

Hi Bill, This area is controlled by SDF as a consequence of the Syrian Civil War. This is not called rojava by any serious media outlet. The official name for this area is the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria. Please change the name to something more neutral.
