Harry Perry was one of the handsomest men onthe stage, and a capital actor too. His animalspirits and personal magnetism, however, were theraw materials out of which his popularity wasmanufactured. In those parts that belonged to afarce light comedian he was quite unequaled.Youth, vivacity, and a ringing laugh made himaltogether one of the most captivating fellows inhis line. His figure was lithe and graceful, and,as was said of one of the old light comedians yearsago, he had a five-act comedy in each eye. On theoccasion I speak of he was quite intoxicated withhappiness, being in the height of a honeymoon.His bride was Miss Agnes Land,— now Mrs. AgnesBooth,— a young lady who had lately arrived fromAustralia, and whose talent and beauty combinedwith his own made them valuable members of thetheatrical profession.
