Description
English: Hans Frederik Gude is mainly associated with majestic Norwegian views of fjords and mountains. Often on large canvases. He painted this work relatively late in his career. Although the painting is fairly small, the experience of the grandeur of the scene is no less intense. What is most striking is the light – as impressive in itself as in the way Gude painted it and combined it with the shifting motion of the surface of the water.
