DescriptionSOUTH CAMDEN HISTORIC DISTRICT; STAR THEATER.jpg
English: THE THEATER WAS BUILT IN THE EARLY 20s OR LATE TEENS AND WAS USED TO SHOW SILENT MOVIES AND LATER TALKINGMOVIES. IT SURVIVED INTO THE LATE 50s WHEN IT WAS BOUGHT BY SACRED HEART CHURCH WHO USED IT FOR TWICE A WEEK BINGO GAMES AND AS A VENUE TO SHOWCASE THE SACRED HEART BAND. IN THE 70s IT WAS ABANDONED AND WAS GUTTED. IT ONCE HAD A MARQUEE WHICH IS LONG GONE.
THIS IS ONE OF THE PREMIER SITES IN THE H.D. ALONG WITH THE SOUTH CAMDEN TRUST COMPANY WHICH IS SEPARATELY LISTED. IT IS VERY MUCH DETERIORATED AND THE MARQUEE IS GONE. I WILL SEND ANOTHER PICTURE OF A CONTRIBUTING BUILDING AND YOU CAN DECIDE WHICH WHOULD BE USED FOR REPRESENT THE DISTRICT.
