Description

The wreck of the U.S. Liberty ship RUFUS KING off Moreton Island, Australia, August 1942. The deck cargo has not yet been salvaged. The grounding occurred 7 July 1942 and exposed no 3 upper 'tween deck and the forward bulkhead of the fuel oil settling tank. The bow was later floated and became a barge, while the stern was abandoned.
